Integrate physiological/ analogue signals from other sources with your moorVMS system with the 8 channel moorVMS-DAQ module.

The moorVMS-DAQ data acquisition module, together with moorVMS-PC software provides a simple, convenient and low cost solution to integrating other physiological analogue signals (e.g. temperature, heart rate, pain scores etc) with your moorVMS software. The module offers 8 input channels as standard, split between front and rear panels to aid tidy connections and short wiring runs. External signals are integrated seamlessly alongside blood flow, tissue oxygenation traces allowing time matched traces from all your data sources. Statistical analysis of the analogue inputs is automatic and displayed alongside the analysis of blood flow, tissue oxygenation signals. In addition incoming and outgoing triggers are enabled allowing full synchronisation of other systems with moorVMS-PC.

Connections; connect the moorVMS-DAQ to your PC with a USB cable (supplied). The moorVMS-PC software will automatically detect the presence of the acquisition module and enable monitoring and display configuration automatically. Input connections are through high quality, industry standard BNC connectors, which accept a voltage input range of +/-10 Volts.

Digital Triggering; use triggering to start moorVMS measurements automatically, add trace markers (with the digital input channel) or to start other devices automatically (with the digital output function). Both triggering channels use high quality, industry standard BNC connectors.

This section lists the more common questions our customers have with regards to the moorVMS-DAQ. If you have a question you would like answered that does not appear below then please email us. We are happy to help!

Q. Can I record using all 8 channels simultaneously?
A. Yes, the moorVMS-DAQ is designed to record data from all 8 channels simultaneously at 40Hz sampling rate.

Q. What is the maximum voltage I can record?
A. The moorVMS-DAQ has been designed so it can accept analogue voltages from -10V to +10V with a resolution of 1mV. Exceeding these voltages will force the moorVMS-DAQ to clip to -10V and +10V internally.

Q. If I exceed -10V or +10V, will this damage my instrument?
A. No, the moorVMS-DAQ can withstand voltages up to -30V and +30V without damage. Increasing the voltages beyond this point will cause internal fuses to blow and keep the electronics safe from further damage. If you suspect a faulty channel caused by overvoltage, please contact moor instruments for assistance.

Q. Can I use the moorVMS-DAQ to control other equipment?
A. Yes, if your external equipment has external trigger inputs and can be controlled by TTL logic levels (0-5V) with a minimum of accepting a 25ms pulse width.

Q. How is data transferred from the moorVMS system to PC?
A. All moorVMS modules connect to your PC running moorVMS-PC Windows™ software via the USB port. You can connect numerous moorVMS monitors to create your multi-channel configuration. You can use a USB hub if your PC does not have enough USB ports already.

Q. Why does the moorVMS-DAQ have channels 5-8 on the front panel and channels 1-4 at the rear?
A. Mainly to aid short, tidy cable runs. This avoids the possible damage and entanglement of probes from other moorVMS modules located at the front of the instruments when having BNC cables at the front.

Q. Can I connect any instrument with analogue output voltages to the moorVMS-DAQ?
A. The moorVMS-DAQ was designed both to help current Moor Instrument customers use their legacy moor instruments equipment (E.g. moorLAB, DRT4) and/ or other physiological/ analogue systems present in the lab or clinic, with the moorVMS system.

For example, using the moorVMS-DAQ, users can use the analogue outputs from the DRT4 in conjunction with other moorVMS based modules. Although users will not have full integration as they would if they bought the moorVMS-LDF to replace the DRT4 or moorLAB, this provides a stepping stone to the moorVMS system.

You can connect non-moor instruments equipment to the moorVMS-DAQ as long as the analogue output voltages are in the range of -10V to +10V and has a signal frequency of less than 20Hz.
