Sponsorship and Anti-Bribery Policy

The Bribery Act 2010 came into force on 1st July 2011 and sets out the law on corruption offences. The offences under the Bribery Act are extensive in scope, broadly defined and also allow for offences committed anywhere in the world to be prosecuted in UK courts. The same standards therefore apply to conduct that occurs both in the UK and in any business we undertake abroad.

It is our policy to conduct all of our business in an honest and ethical manner. We take a zero tolerance approach to bribery and corruption. We are committed to acting professionally, fairly and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships wherever we operate and implementing and enforcing effective systems to counter bribery.

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to establish controls of sponsorship and donation to ensure compliance with all applicable anti-bribery and corruption regulations, and to ensure that the Company’s business is conducted in a socially responsible manner.

Sponsorship and Donation Policy

The Bribery Act 2010 does not seek to prohibit reasonable and proportionate hospitality, advertising, sponsorship and promotional or other similar business expenditure, as it is recognised that this constitutes an established and important part of doing business. However, hospitality, promotional and similar business expenditure can be used as bribes.

The organisation expressly prohibits the giving and receiving of hospitality/business gifts and similar where the intention in doing so is to receive or confer an advantage in return for giving or receiving the hospitality/business gift or similar.

We must keep financial records and have appropriate internal controls in place which will evidence the business reason for making payments to third parties.

Any sponsorship or charitable donation must be approved by the Marketing and Sales Manager and recorded on the Sponsorship and Donations Register.

Any sponsorship or charitable donation in excess of £250 should be approved by the Managing Director. Care must be taken to ensure that sponsorships and charitable contributions are not used as a subterfuge for and do not constitute bribery and that the proposed charity is itself legitimate.

Market clearance and applications

Not all products or applications are approved for use in all markets – please refer to your local sales office.
