moorVMS-DAQ
FAQ
This section lists the more common questions our customers have. If you have a question you would like answered that does not appear below then please email us. We are happy to help!
Q. Can I record using all 8 channels simultaneously?
A. Yes, the moorVMS-DAQ is designed to record data from all 8 channels simultaneously at 40Hz sampling rate.
Q. What is the maximum voltage I can record?
A. The moorVMS-DAQ has been designed so it can accept analogue voltages from -10V to +10V with a resolution of 1mV. Exceeding these voltages will force the moorVMS-DAQ to clip to -10V and +10V internally.
Q. If I exceed -10V or +10V, will this damage my instrument?
A. No, the moorVMS-DAQ can withstand voltages up to -30V and +30V without damage. Increasing the voltages beyond this point will cause internal fuses to blow and keep the electronics safe from further damage. If you suspect a faulty channel caused by overvoltage, please contact moor instruments for assistance.
Q. Can I use the moorVMS-DAQ to control other equipment?
A. Yes, if your external equipment has external trigger inputs and can be controlled by TTL logic levels (0-5V) with a minimum of accepting a 25ms pulse width.
Q. How is data transferred from the moorVMS™ system to PC?
A. All moorVMS™ modules connect to your PC running moorVMS-PC software via the USB port. You can connect numerous moorVMS™ monitors to create your multi-channel configuration. You can use a USB hub if your PC does not have enough USB ports already.
Q. Why does the moorVMS-DAQ have channels 5-8 on the front panel and channels 1-4 at the rear?
A. Mainly to aid short, tidy cable runs. This avoids the possible damage and entanglement of probes from other moorVMS modules located at the front of the instruments when having BNC cables at the front.
Q. Can I connect any instrument with analogue output voltages to the moorVMS-DAQ?
A. The moorVMS-DAQ was designed both to help current Moor Instrument customers use their legacy moor instruments equipment (E.g. moorLAB, DRT4) and/ or other physiological/ analogue systems present in the lab or clinic, with the moorVMS system.
For example, using the moorVMS-DAQ, users can use the analogue outputs from the DRT4 in conjunction with other moorVMS based modules. Although users will not have full integration as they would if they bought the moorVMS-LDF2 to replace the DRT4 or moorLAB, this provides a stepping stone to the moorVMS system.
You can connect non-moor instruments equipment to the moorVMS-DAQ as long as the analogue output voltages are in the range of -10V to +10V and has a signal frequency of less than 20Hz.
